Drum stick is a wonderful tonic for growing kids and teens to achieve healthy and strong bones; loaded with valuable minerals, healthy proteins making it healthier well ahead of other healthy food. Its consumption during pregnancy eases the delivery and reduces pre & post delivery complications.
Ingredients:
- Tender Drum stick: 150-200 gram.
- Potato: 1 no. (Medium size)
- Onion: 1 no. (Medium size)
- Tomato: 1 no. (Medium size)
- Fennel seeds: ¼ teaspoon
- Cumin: ¼ teaspoon
- Garlic paste: half teaspoon
- Ginger paste: half teaspoon
- Salt: 1 teaspoon
- Turmeric powder: half teaspoon
- Chilli powder: half teaspoon
- Coriander powder: half teaspoon
- Garam masala powder: ¼ teaspoon
Preparation:
- Take Drum stick cut (rather break it, as tender drum stick breaks easily) into 2-3”pieces. Keep aside.
- Peel off and cut potato longitudinally and thin. Keep aside.
- Peel off onion and cut into small pieces. Keep aside.
- Chop tomato into small pieces. Keep aside.
Method:
- Take fry pan, put oil, heat, and when it smokes, add fennel seeds and cumin; sputter for few minutes.
- Add onion, Stir fry for couple of minutes on medium flame or until onion become translucent (Keep it stirring otherwise it may burn).
- Add drum stick, stir well, cover and cook for couple of minutes, add potato; lower the flame cook for couple of minutes.
- Add tomato, ginger and garlic paste. Stir it and fry for couple of minutes, cover and cook (stir it every 1 to 2 minutes until vegetables are half done).
- Now put chilli powder, coriander powder, turmeric powder and salt. Mix it well.
- Lower the flame, cover and cook for couple of minutes.
- Add half cup of water, cover it, stir occasionally and cook till it is done (about 4-5 minutes).
- Add Garam masala powder and stir it.
- Put off the flame.
- “Tender Drum stick aaloo ki sabji” is ready for serving.
