Aha! Shelled tender green chana here in Mumbai; it takes me ages ago when I was kid.
My grandma fired up the uprooted whole plant bundle during foggy winter evening on the open varanda…we enjoyed a good campfire and result is that fire charred the tender green pods called “Horha”.
This is a best and practical way from our elders to spend bitterly cold evening at outdoor and this Horha nourishing their kids with warm snacks being prepared on the spot.
Do write me how you enjoyed foggy and bitterly cold evening in your childhood …
Anyway we peeled out the green chana pods that day; prepared this classic recipe.
“Fresh Green Chana/Hara Chana(Green Garbanzo Beans/Green Chickpea) Masala/Ghughani”, which is undeniable champion for winter breakfast, which is flavourful, healthy and delicious.
We have it with Roti, Poori, Kchori, Paratha, Fried Poha etc…You can also pack it in lunch box, as taste of this recipe is so good at room temperature also.
