Achari Guwar Phalli is a delightful and tangy North Indian dish made from cluster beans (guwar phalli) and a medley of pickling spices, commonly known as “Achari Masala”. Whenever I want to add variety to our daily meals or craving something tangy and flavourful, “Achari Guwar Phalli” is one of them that captures the essence of traditional Indian cuisine.
The dish beautifully combines the flavour of cluster beans with the bold, tangy, and slightly spicy taste of traditional Indian pickles. Achari Guwar Phalli is a perfect side dish to accompany Roti, Muli Paratha, or even Steamed Rice.
The use of mustard powder and oil in the preparation gives it an authentic flavour, making it a favorite in many Indian households.
Ingredients:
- Guwar phalli (cluster beans): 250 gm
- Garlic: 1 teaspoon (paste)
- Salt: half teaspoon
- Turmeric powder: 1 teaspoon
- Chilli powder: 1.5 teaspoon
- Mustard powder: 2 -3 teaspoon
- Amchoor(Dry mango powder): 1 teaspoon
- Mustard oil/olive oil: 2 tablespoon
Preparation:
- Boil the guwar phalli with one glass of water into cooker/microwave.
- Trim the both ends of the guwar phalli.
- Remove Strings from each guar phalli as shown in photo.
Method:
- Take a mixing bowl. Put garlic paste, salt, turmeric powder, chilli powder, mustard powder, dry mango powder and oil. Mix well.
- Add boiled and clean guwar phalli in it. Mix properly.
- Achari guwar phalli are ready to serve.
Serve as side dish with lunch as well as dinner.
