Traditionally Bihari Chokha which is served with Litti, is mixture of roasted potato, roasted eggplant and tomato mashed along with raw onion, green chilli and coriander leaves. Adding raw mustard oil give the chokha pungent and awesome flavour and also provides a Bihari touch.
Apart from this you can relish a super quick spicy only potato mash as a side dish. Preparing chokha is easy, it can be fire roasted, backed, boiled or steamed. It is served with any type of meal, as serve with hot Chapati and Dal/as a side dish in combination with plane Boiled Rice and Dal.
Also serve with Sattu ka litti or Dalpitthi.
Ingredients:
- Aaloo (Potato): 4-5 no. (Medium size)
- Onion: 1 no. (Medium size)
- Green chilli: 2-3 no.
- Coriander leaves: 2o gm
- Mustard oil: 1 teaspoon
- Salt: half teaspoon
Preparation:
- Boil potato either in pressure cooker or in microwave.
- Remove skin (outer layer) Keep aside.
- Chop onion, green chilli, and coriander leaves into small pieces.
Method:
- Take a mixing bowl put all ingredients into this bowl.
- Mash all with the help of masher or hand.
- Mash properly (more you mash better will be test), aaloo chokha is ready.
