Apple trees originally grew in Asia and Europe about thousand years ago, now it is grown all over the world. Different types of apples are grown as per demand i.e. cooking purpose, raw eating purpose and cinder producing purpose.
Asian apples are extremely sweet, especially in Indian sub continent. The skin of ripen apples are red, pink, green, yellow, golden and rusted color. They also differ in size significantly. Japanese consumers prefer the large size apples.
Apples have religious and mythological significance in many cultures i.e. apples are eaten with honey at the Jewish new year to symbolize a very sweet new year.
Eat apples whatever the way you like, it gives advance nutrition. Eating them whole gives maximum benefits, but cooked dishes of apple can be fun while cooking and serving as well as tasty too.
Ingredients:
- Apple: 250 gm
- Milk: 500 gm
- Ghee: 1 teaspoon
- Condensed milk: 200 gm
- Pistachio: 10 no (chopped)
- Almond: 10 no (chopped)
- Saffron: 20 thread
- Green cardamom: 2 no
Preparation:
- Peel out the apples. Grate the apples with the help of greater/food processor squeeze gently and take out extra juice to reduce the wetness.
Method:
- In a fry pan heat ghee, when ghee is heated add crushed cardamom. Wait for few second, add grated apple. Fry for 5-7 minutes on medium to low flame or until apple become light golden. Put it aside.
- Boil the milk; add the grated fried apples in the milk continue to cook on medium flame for about 4-5 minutes or until desire consistency come. Put off the flame.
- Add half of Pistachio, almond, and saffron.
- Serve in a bowl, decorate with leftover dry fruits and some apple slices.
- Now apple kheer is ready to be served.
