Whatever the afternoon dry or dusty, rainy or cloudy, we enjoy to eat homemade roasted nuts without any oil or ghee; which is perfect with any soft drink like juices, Shikanji, tea or coffee. It can be perfectly paired with hard drink too.
Dietitian advised me to include plant based protein as nuts in daily diet to regulate cholesterol. It can be raw or roasted, both are healthy. In Indian culture people mostly eat soaked nuts but I love to eat roasted one.
Earlier I bought roasted nuts from D-mart a supermarket; gradually I started to roast in our kitchen, believe me or not but prepare at home without oil, it is easier than you think. Since that I roasted the all nuts like cashew nut, almond and peanut.
Roasted nuts are crisp, delicious; great snacks if you are trying to loose weight. It keeps you so full that you eat less at your next meal, and this phenomenon is known as second meal effect… supporting active life and feeling alert.
It is power house of protein, help to reduce factor for cardiac disease and cancer. It is packed with iron too.
Lets prepare this crispy roasted nuts, which I often serve as an appetizer, you may serve at the occasion like get together, friends and family party. For me It is a great snacks as afternoon munching followed with tea…
Ingredients :
- Almond, Cashew Nut, Pea Nut: 250 gm.
- Salt: 1/2 teaspoon
- Black Pepper/Cumin Powder(Flavour of your choice): 1/4 teaspoon
- Water: 2 teaspoon
Preparation:
- Mix water, salt and spices(as Black pepper powder, Cumin powder, Mint leaf powder, garlic powder etc. as per your taste the flavour to roast) with nuts of your choice in a big bowl, keep aside for 10-20 minutes before use.
- Set the oven for 140 degree centigrade. Preheat oven for about 3-4 minutes.
Method:
- Place the prepared nuts in a single layer on baking tray, roast them at medium to low temperature about 140 degree for roughly 7-8 minutes or until fragrance and golden colour reach. Watch them and check them for every 3-4 minutes so that it won’t burn.
- Remove the nuts from oven allow them to cool completely before storing.
