Massage oil(Homemade)

  • On the occasion of Holi festival each and everybody is very joyful and playful, especially kids. They play Holi with showers of colors and gulal under the sun.
  • After coming into the house they feel very tired, and we think, what is the better way to bring back them to routine life of their study as soon as possible?
  • So, post celebration, it is important to take care of your children’s skin, hair and tiredness. I am giving a fast mantra as homemade massage oil.
  • This is not only good for children, good for you too. Massage is a therapy or natural solution of soothing skin, give strength to nerves and muscles provides relief from ache and pain; Improves blood circulation, uplifting the memory and eyesight.
  • You are familiar with mustard oil (sarso ka tel) as cooking oil, but it is very useful for massage too. After massage, stay for at least one hour or overnight before taking shower, bath with lukewarm water using gel /soap. Your children will feel very relaxed and happy.

Ingredients:

  • Mustard oil: 50 gm
  • Garlic: 8-10 flakes of deshi garlic (preferably).
  • Ajawine (carom seed):1 teaspoon
  • Asafoetida: half teaspoon

Preparation:

  1. Peel and chop garlic roughly.

Method:

  1. Take a fry pan. Heat oil and add garlic, let it sputter it for couple of minutes.
  2. Add ajawine; sputter it, put off the flame.
  3. Add asafoetida, wait for few seconds.
  4. Pass this oil through sieve. Discard the residue.
  5.  Keep aside to cool to Luke-warm.
  6. Massage oil is ready for whole body massage.

  • Garlic has antiviral and anti bacterial properties, it improves the immune system.
  • Ajawine (carom seed) is very useful method to cure pain.
  • Asafoetida keeps skin healthy, glowing, Lubricated and free from blemish.

Holika dahan day (one day before Holi) Thali (from Bihar)

‘Barh’ is the place where I spend my childhood and all of sudden all these memories from years ago resurfaced and flooded my mind, so I decided to cook all these recipes, which is cooked in our place ‘Bihar’ on the occasion of “holika dahan day” (one day before Holi).

“Holika dahan day Thali “(cuisine) from Bihar, which is nice and delicious, looks good and the aroma of Thali is very tempting, I loved this Thali, when my mother served. This is my first Thali from Bihar….

I am going to upload old classical “holika dahan day Thali” from Barh, Patna, Bihar and feeling very joyful and proud. I have already linked all recipes below…

Kachari (split Bengal gram) pakoda (fritters)

Ingredients:

  • Chana dal (split Bengal gram): 100gm
  • Salt: ½ teaspoon (as per your taste)
  • Onion: 1 no. (Small)
  • Green chili: 1 no.
  • Fresh coriander leaves (chopped): 1 tablespoon
  • Oil: for frying

Preparation:

  1. Soak chana dal 1 -2 hours, grind them roughly, with help of little water.
  2. Cut green chili and onion roughly, keep aside.

Method

for making pakoda (fritters):

  1. Take a big mixing bowl, put dal paste roughly chopped green chili and onion, mix properly. Now batter is ready.
  2. Take flat and heavy bottom fry pan, put oil in the fry pan, and Let oil to smoke.
  3.  Drop small size batter in it. (Either helps of your hand or spoon)
  4. If batter comes up, it means right temperature of oil otherwise wait for a while and test again.
  5. After getting right temperature of oil,
  6. Deep fry all pakoda (size of your choice), till golden brown. Keep aside.
  7. Repeat this till all batter is finished.
  8. Kachari (split Bengal gram) pakoda (fitters) is good for evening snacks, otherwise as you wish.
  9. Serve hot with green chutney and tomato ketchup.

Dry aaloo (quick aaloo fry)

Ingredients:

  • Potato: 250 gm
  • Green chilly: 2no. (Optional)
  • Asafetida powder: 1pinch
  • Mustard seed: ½ teaspoon
  • Curry leaves: 2 twig
  • Salt: 1 teaspoon
  • Turmeric powder: one forth teaspoon
  • Coriander powder: half teaspoon
  • Mango powder: 1/2 teaspoon

Preparation:

  1. Cut the green chili in pieces.
  2. Boil/ microwave the potatoes.
  3. Peel and chop the potatoes.

Method:

  1. Take kadhai, heat oil till smoke appears.
  2. Add mustard seed and asafoetida sputter it for few seconds
  3. Add curry leaves, green chili, chopped potatoes and fry it for 2 minutes.
  4. Add salt, turmeric powder,mango powder and coriander powder, fry for one minute.
  5. Put off the flame and decorate with green coriander leaf.
  6. Dry aaloo (quick aaloo fry) is ready to serve.

Aaloo (potato) pakoda (fritters)

Ingredients:

  • Potato: 2-3 no.
  • Garam masala powder: ½ teaspoon
  • Salt: half teaspoon
  • Ajawine (carom seeds): ¼ teaspoon
  • Besan (gram flour): ½ cup
  • Water: ½ cup
  • Mustard oil: for deep fry
  • Meetha soda (Sodabicarb): 1 pinch
  • Chat masala: 2-3 pinch

Preparation:

  1.  Peel off the potato and slice into thin layer. Keep aside.
  2. Take a bowl. Put Besan, salt, Ajawine, Garam masala and Meetha soda in it.
  3. Make a smooth batter with the help of water.

Method:

  1. Take kadhai (fry pan), heat oil in it, Let oil to smoke. Pour a drop of batter into the oil.
  2. If batter comes up, it means right temperature of oil otherwise wait for a while and test again.
  3. After getting right temperature of oil, dip a slice of potato into batter. (Either direct by hand or spoon)
  4. Deep fry all slices, when they start to come up slowly turn over.
  5.  Fry till it becomes golden brown on both sides.
  6. Remove the pakoda from oil, sprinkle chat masala over it.
  7. Serve hot with green chutney and tomato sauce. Keep aside
