Sooji (rava) upma

Ingredients:

  • Sooji: 1 cup
  • Water: 2 cup
  • Refined oil:  2 tablespoon
  • Onion: 1 no.(small)
  • Green chili: 4-5no.
  • Urad dal: 1 teaspoon
  • Chana dal: 2 teaspoon
  •  Dry red chili: 2 no.
  • Curry leaves:  10- 15 no.
  • Mustard seed: half teaspoon
  • Cashew nuts: 8-10no.
  • Salt: 1 teaspoon
  • Sugar: half teaspoon (optional)
  • Butter: 2 teaspoon (optional)

Preparation:

  1. Chop onion into small pieces.
  2. Slit green chili longitudinally.
  3. Dry roast Sooji till it turns slightly brownish. Keep aside.

Method:

  1. Take nonstick fry pan, put oil in it.
  2.  Heat the oil, Fry cashew nuts and take it out. Keep aside.
  3. Fry green chili and take it out immediately.
  4. Add chana dal, urad dal, whole red chili and mustard seed.
  5. Fry till it becomes golden brown.
  6. Add onion and curry leaves.
  7. Sauté till All become soft and translucent.
  8. Fry it for 2-3 minutes; pour water, when water starts boiling.
  9. Add sugar, dry roasted Sooji   and salt.
  10. Stir continuously till it gets cooked.
  11. After drying water cover and cook on lower flame.( about 2-3 minutes)
  12. Put off the flame; serve after 5-10 minutes.
  13. Just before serving add butter and transfer into serving bowl.
  14. Decorate with cashew nut, fried green chili and pomegranate.
  15. Healthy breakfast is ready to serve.
